So the day after Thanksgiving is my day to decorate for Christmas. Thanks to my hubby, I was able to put the lights up on my house and we did a great countdown for DDT.
Today, I went in my backyard to throw some trash out and almost stepped on a rat. Unfortunately, the rat was in no condition to scurry away. I am sure he had his share of poison (thanks Vector Control) and was walking towards to the light. I knew that I had to get it out of the yard before Panda got home so I tried but then it got a burst of energy and ran under our trees and tried to climb, no luck. I left him to die in the leaves under the trees. Once Panda got home, I went to see if he was dead but he was gone! I kept thinking that there was no way that this rat climbed his way out of my yard, so I opened the back gate and viola! He was there. He was able to fit under the gate. With urging from Panda, I got a white trash bag and scooped him in the bag with a dustpan. So while he was still breathing, he was on his last leg and now is lights out in the neighbor's trash can.

Things To Be Thankful For....
1. My Husband, Pandrew - He is awesome and is a great father to DDT. We do lose sight of us at times but always find a way to meet back in the middle.
2. My Son, DDT - He is a crazy 22 month old and he brings me such joy. I love when he makes me laugh.
3. Our unborn baby, DDT's little sib - I am 11 weeks preggers and am definitely scared to bring another little person into this world but with the support of our wonderful family, I know we will be okay.
4. My folks, Grandma (mom) and Grandpa (dad) - They are awesome and I am so happy to give them there very own grandkids to spoil.
5. My In Laws, Grammy and Papa - They are always there to lend a helping hand.
6. My Other Family - Pandrew's brothers and sister's family is amazing. I am so thankful that Eugene has made me a "true" Aunt by having little CM. I love my nieces and nephews and would do anything for them.
7. My friends - I have reconnected with a person that I honestly did not get along with when I first met her. Now we are really good friends and our sons are building a wonderful relationship, Love you Kiki! My other friends are amazing and I can't imagine my life without them.

I Shouldn't Watch the News....
because I keep looking for Panda. I watched it until 12 or 12:30 last night and it was focusing on Carbon Canyon. I was hoping Panda wasn't there but a text message I got this morning stated the opposite. He stated it was scary and it turned bad around 3 am. No rest for them yet and I hope they remain safe.
Today DDT and I will go visit grammy and papa, run some errands and try to ignore the news.
Keep them in your thoughts.

Snow in So Cal...
no, that would be ashes from all the fires. The ash is horrible and I am saddened by the thought that the ash is actually someone's home. Below is a pic of the sun shining thru the ash filled sky.
My hubby was sent out with a good crew and they were in Brea but according to a recent text message, they are being redeployed. So please keep them in your thoughts along with all the other firefighters and people who are living this terrible nightmare.

Look Like Anyone We Know?
So my folks have be cleaning their "stuff" out at their house and my mom came across these lovely pics of yours truly. Is there any doubt that DDT is my child?

Santa Claus Is Not DDT's Friend
We thought it would be cute to put reindeer antlers on DDT (and he has the nose injury) and get his picture taken with the jolly ol' man himself. Apparently, DDT is at the stage where Santa is not his favorite person.

A Morning of Pics....
This morning, I had the chance to take pictures of Kiki's nieces. I met with Kiki's sis in law at 9 am at a park near their house. The girls did amazing even though it was starting to get really hot. Once I loaded the pics and shared them with the mom, I got a wonderful email back and got a call from Kiki stating that the pictures were a big hit. Yea! I would post some but I don't have permission from the mom to do so, so just trust me, they turned out great!

Camping and House Smells
So on Friday we headed out to the desert for our 1st trip of the season. DDT has made it quite clear that he doesn't like to spend extended amount of time in his car seat but we are going to have to figure out a way to deal with it.
Friday and Saturday brought awesome weather but Saturday night the weather started to turn horrible. The wind started to kick up, the rain fell for a brief time, and lightning danced around the sky. Sunday was a day filled with colllllddddd wind and we didn't spend that much time outside of the trailers. At one point, DDT fell down some steps in the Plumber's trailer and received a nice rug burn on his nose. He kinda looks like Rudolph the Red Nose reindeer. I am working on getting a picture.
We ended up leaving on Monday and made it back around 2:30 or so to find the smell in the house had not disappeared. Panda decided to go get some masks and gloves so that we could remove whatever was causing this horrible smell.
As Panda held the trashbags, I cut away the heater ducts and in one duct, we found was seemed to be animal "poop". What type of animal, we were not sure but the smell was coming from this "poop". After we removed several ducts, Panda noticed that the rats had chewed through my tackle box. The tackle box is a hard plastic and they ate through it like it was paper. Once I saw that, it hit me. The "poop" was actually catfish bait. The rats had gotten the stinky catfish bait out of the tackle box and dragged it up to the ducts. Mystery solved!! We still do not have a heater but the smell has finally gone away!

The smell....
is coming from our heater vents. After talking with Kiki, she talked my bravery up and I went down to the basement to see if I could find the decaying rodent and dispose properly of its body. Well I failed and did not see the culprit. I did, however, put tape over the vent that was the worst offender.
Panda and I really need to start looking into having all the heater ducts replaced.
We are accepting donations.

I am Gagging....
from the smell that is permeating through our house. I am thinking that a rodent has died within our walls and now we get to experience the smell of death. God help me.

Parking Police
So the joy of living by the beach includes having parking meters in front of your house. Of course, you can buy a resident parking sticker but I think you have to take a home loan out to purchase one so Panda and I buy the shopper's permit which is a lot cheaper. The difference between the two are:
Resident Sticker - You can park 24 hours in one metered spot.
Shopper's Permit - You can park for the amount of time listed on the meter, ie. 2 hours, 3 hours, etc.
The parking police usually are smart enough to see that the same cars are parked in front of certain houses and typically let us slide on the time limitations. There of course is one a-hole meter maid that likes to waste paper. Her name is Dupperoy. EVERY single ticket we have gotten is from Dupperoy. This time DDT was standing outside looking at something and then I realized that he was looking at the stupid little meter maid car. DAMN IT!! There goes another $36. We figured that we can get at least 6 or 7 tickets before it is the cost of the resident sticker so I am okay for now. It think I may have only a few tickets left before I really get pissed off.
I can totally understand if it was the middle of summer and parking was a problem but the fact that there were only 3 cars on the street including mine, really makes me want to make Dupperoy's life a living hell.

My Child is a Star!
So when Panda was looking thru the OC Family magazine he came across this:
Guess who the second bubble is from the top? That's right, my little fish!

Time Change Blows....
so the whole time change just sucks. I tried to keep DDT up for another hour tonight but failed. He started to cuddle with me and then pointed to his room. Now I know he will be up at 6 which will actually be 7 but who cares it will still say 6 on my clock.
Why can't the time remain the same throughout the whole year? Who invented this whole crappy system? Can you tell I am bitter?
