the day would come that we would be looking at minivans. Yep, we went looking at the Honda Odyssey and the Toyota Sienna.
I am still in shock....

Only in the village....
The was a story from the Laguna Beach Coastline Pilot:
Hawk devours performing bird
One of several large birds that entertain beachgoers at Main Beach was snatched and consumed by a hawk Tuesday, according to police reports. Two people called 911 at 1:39 p.m. to report that a hawk was eating a parrot on Coast Highway. The hawk flew off before police arrived. The bird owner was described as “distraught,” said Laguna Beach Police Sgt. Jason Kravetz.
“Apparently the hawk swooped down and snatched the bird and flew off,” Kravetz said.
The large, colorful birds have become a popular attraction at Main Beach, with families gathering to have their photographs taken with them.

Chirp, Chirp....

Today....
has been a struggle. I was able to get out the of the house and enjoy some girl chat with Kiki while DDT and Munchi played at the playground in the Santa Ana Zoo but DDT spent a lot of time in time outs....He has not been in the mood to listen to me today.
I keep thinking what am I going to do when the next one arrives....and my answer is...go crazy.

New Friend
Today DDT and I had the pleasure of hanging out with Feather (parents were hippies, her words not mine) and E at a park in Aliso Viejo that we have not yet visited. It was an awesome time and we are thinking of making it a standing date.
A couple of things I found out about Feather -
*She scrapbooks!! - Love it
*Her and hubby have been together for 15 years - admire it
Looking forward to more playdates and scrapbooking fun!

My heart...
is getting filled.
As I get older, I am realizing the need of good friendships. I have always had friends but there always seemed to be a revolving door. I lost contact with many over the years and some people I just did not get along with upon our first meeting.
I can't believe that I am going to say this but thanks to Facebook, my heart is being reunited with key people from my past.
I am making a promise to myself to not take these friendships for granted and to cherish each of them with all my heart.
Thanks to God for bringing a few others back into my life and bringing forth new friendships. I will not let them get away again and will protect the new ones.
I love you all! Especially Kiki because I don't know how I would have handled this past year without you by my side! I hope the boys have a friendship that will last a lifetime.

Goodbye...
dear sunglasses.
You were my first pair that I paid over $100 for
You have been chewed on, pulled on but unfortunately,
your time has been cut short at the hands of a 2 year old
You will be missed and will be replaced as soon as I get our tax return

Making Room
for baby boy #2 is a constant thought in my overactive brain. Where in the heck is he going to go? My thought is to move DDT into our current room, baby boy #2 would move into DDT's current room then Panda and I would move into the unpermitted room (once a garage now a playroom/computer room). If Panda and I move into the unpermitted room, we would need to:
1. Rip down the drywall
2. Add insulation
3. Install new drywall
4. Replace old window
5. Add heater vent
6. Build closet
Does anyone have any $$ we can borrow? We will never pay it back just so you are aware.

Craving = Bad Side Effect
I have been craving Peperoncinis and I ate about 7 of them yesterday and oh boy, it has not been good for the environment. No more Peperoncinis for me, I can only blame the dog so many times.

My Compacting Pledge
So in my wine club newsletter (stop laughing) there was an article regarding compacting. The basic rules of compacting are:
Don't buy new! If you exempted the purchase in your pledge, then it's exempt. Outside of that, DON'T BUY NEW. There are natural exemptions to this rule including consumables like food and personal care items as well as health and safety items.
Barter, trade, buy used or go without.
So I am going to pledge to try this for 30 days starting on tomorrow February 9th. I have my nephew's 11th bday coming up so I may have to be his present new but may look at a thrift store or antique store for something out of the ordinary.
Would you be up for this challenge? Try it with me!

Yummy in my Tummy
While DDT was eating a snack bar, he gave something to Panda. Panda put it in his mouth thinking it was a piece of the snack bar. Once Panda tasted the saltiness, he pulled out the "treat" and realized it was a booger.
Yea for my son not eating his own booger and eww for my hubby admitting this story to me.

I Do Not Like Green Eggs and Ham....
well at least the egg part is true for DDT. Ever since DDT could eat regular food, he would not eat eggs. Scrambled eggs, poached eggs, deviled eggs, eggs with ketchup, etc. would not get past his lips.
We had a feeling that he may have been allergic to egg whites after an incident with one of Panda's diet shakes. After he snuck a drink from the shake, he started gagging and vomiting. He broke out on his face but all was better when given Benadryl. We then had another incident when DDT broke into my parent's fridge and actually took a bite of a raw egg...I know gross. He immediately started to vomit, eyes swelled, mouth swelled but yet again, a dose of Benedryl helped ease the reaction.
We didn't think he was allergic to ALL egg product because he can eat baked goods and not have reactions. So after talking to his pediatrician, he referred us to an Allergist and DDT had his allergy test today. It wasn't as bad as we thought it was going to be and DDT was such a big boy.
There were 2 categories with 10 scenarios in each. Category 1 was environment - cat, dog, feathers, dust, etc. Category 2 was food - milk, soy, egg, wheat, etc. They dropped a "bubble" of each on his leg and then did the scratch (this was the part that DDT had issues with). We then waited for 15 minutes or so and saw what type of reaction he had to each. The main issue was the eggs. Both egg whites and yolk. So the Dr. said we need to be careful when giving him baked goods because even though he may not have reactions now, if we give him something like Mayo (more concentrated) he may have an extreme reaction. The Dr. did give us a prescription for the EpiPen for extreme cases but I am sure we will not need to use it.
Thankfully, the Dr. said we don't need to see him for another year and that is only to see if his reaction lessens to the eggs. Yea!!
