Only in the village....

The was a story from the Laguna Beach Coastline Pilot:

Hawk devours performing bird

One of several large birds that entertain beachgoers at Main Beach was snatched and consumed by a hawk Tuesday, according to police reports. Two people called 911 at 1:39 p.m. to report that a hawk was eating a parrot on Coast Highway. The hawk flew off before police arrived. The bird owner was described as “distraught,” said Laguna Beach Police Sgt. Jason Kravetz.

“Apparently the hawk swooped down and snatched the bird and flew off,” Kravetz said.

The large, colorful birds have become a popular attraction at Main Beach, with families gathering to have their photographs taken with them.

The police actually came because a bird was eating another bird? So, now it is illegal for animals in nature to act as though they live in nature?

Exactly. I didn't even mention the call that Jordan got in dispatch regarding the bird that only had one leg.....he had to explain to the caller that some birds lift a leg when standing....oh the village!

Carebear, I actually took those 2 911 calls about the parrot attack. The victims owner is actually a local transient that sells pictures to visitors with the parrot on their shoulder. Now just another person out of work. But at least we pay for his healthcare, right??
